With over 25 years as an Animal Professional, Laura is skilled in animal training and care. She worked as a Senior Animal Trainer in the zoo industry for 20 years and worked with pets including conducting dog training for a major pet retailer for 11 years.

Laura's Proper Pets Training is dedicated to helping pet owners learn and understand how to properly communicate with their animals. We will focus on relationship-based training, utilizing positive reinforcement and gentle corrections to establish a clear language between you and your pets. By discussing why animals exhibit specific behaviors, together we can provide them with a clear understanding of what is acceptable or undesirable.
All obedience training and behavior modification requires ongoing training, management, consistency from all family members, and proper implementation of the training plan and techniques taught in order for pets to have long lasting success. Laura gives thorough instructions to help set you up to succeed!

A Potty Training Consultation provides a full review of your current setup, customized guidance for teaching your puppy to use pads or transition to outdoor potty habits, and a step‑by‑step plan to build consistent bathroom routines. You’ll also receive a training handout, optional follow‑up support if needed, and unlimited access to text or email assistance as your puppy learns.

A New Puppy Consultation provides recommended adjustments that support smoother training and daily life with a young dog. We cover clear guidelines for building boundaries, structure, and confidence, along with essential topics such as puppy safety, socialization and desensitizing, normal developmental behavior, and enrichment. You’ll receive an emailed recap, an optional personalized training plan, and unlimited text or email support as you continue working with your puppy, ensuring you stay on the right track and feel confident guiding your dog through these early stages.

A New Pet Consultation provides in‑home guidance for all non‑canine companions, helping you create a safe, comfortable setup and smooth transition for your new animal. During the visit, a trainer with over 25 years of experience caring for more than 50 different species will review your environment, offer advice on essential supplies and equipment, and provide training support as needed. You’ll receive clear, practical tips tailored to your pet’s species and temperament, ensuring your new companion settles in confidently and thrives in your home.

Separation Anxiety
A Separation Anxiety Consultation provides personalized, in‑home guidance to help your dog feel secure and confident when left alone. During the visit, I assess your current setup, identify triggers contributing to anxiety, and offer clear, step‑by‑step strategies for building independence and reducing distress behaviors. You’ll receive tailored recommendations for management, enrichment, routine adjustments, and training exercises designed to support calmer, more predictable alone time. After the session, you’ll receive an emailed recap, an optional customized training plan, and unlimited text or email support as you continue working through your dog’s separation anxiety.
